About Girls Gone Wiki

Who of us hasn’t referenced Wikipedia–the free, online encyclopedia compiled and edited by its users worldwide?  Yet, The New York Times recently reported that “less than 15% of Wikipedia’s contributors are women.”  Barred for centuries from participating in meaningful public discourse, women are now opting out of the conversation. Girls Gone Wiki aims to correct this shocking imbalance. We applaud The Wikimedia Foundation’s goal to raise the level of women’s contributions to 25% by 2015; however, our aim is to exceed that goal.

Spread the word.  If you find a Wikipedia page to be in error, misleading or incomplete, edit it.  If you’ve wondered why a topic about which you have some knowledge or expertise is absent, create a page. If your writing or technical skills are lacking, collaborate.  It’s easier than you think.
